Fireweed is as powerful as it sounds. Proudly and ethically harvested in the west Kootenay mountains of British Columbia in both May and mid-summer, this particular plant is internationally known for its adaptogen properties, tension release and stress-softening benefits.
We harvest only the healthiest, mid stem, foliage and leave the rest of the plant, stem, leaves and flowers for our local bees and critters to enjoy. The leaves are then left to sit, and dry for a period before they are hand ground and then fermented in a warm room for a period of 18-24 hours. This stage is what releases the sweet oils and health benefits fireweed is known for. Once the fermentation is complete the tea is oven dried at low temperatures. The result is a sweet, honey taste similar to rooibos and tastes great hot or on ice.
